As if performing on American Idol last Wednesday wasn't enough, Kanye West capped off a week of work at FOX in L.A. Thursday by sitting in on a table read of new animated sitcom The Cleveland Show. "It was surprising to us that [he] was so into it that he came to the table [read], and wonderfully surprising how cool he was, how funny he was and how unassuming he was," says executive producer Mike Henry, who voices Cleveland Brown and other characters on the show. "He's just a great presence." West then spent three hours in the studio Friday laying down his voice as not-so-mega-star rapper Kenny West.

"We knew Kanye was a big Family Guy fan because he invited [creator] Seth [MacFarlane] to his house a year or two ago," adds Henry. "And there was a mention on his blog when the spin-off was announced that he was excited about it. We knew he was a big fan and a lot of us are fans of his." New to the art of voicing animation, West came early to meet the cast and the writers. Soaking up the table-read process, West, 31, got pointers from series regular Sanaa Lathan, who plays Cleveland Brown's wife Donna, and excelled at improvisation.

According to executive producer Richard Appel, "Before we came to the table ... there was only one line he didn't love and he came up with another idea and in a completely modest, nice way said, 'Would you mind if I changed just this one line?' And our feeling was, how many raps have we written? One? And how many has he written? Be our guest!"

And would the producers ever have Grammy-winning West back on the show? "We just recorded him in the booth and he was fantastic," says Appel. "Once he read it a couple times through, he just owned the character, which I guess isn't hard since he was named Kenny West. He said he'd be glad to [be back.]. I said we could write him in to the next 21 episodes!" Also in the episode, which will air in 2010, is Oscar nominee Taraji P. Henson. The Cleveland Show is set to premiere on FOX in the fall of 2009.

Taco Bell is going gangsta on 50 Cent.

Lawyers for the fast-food chain filed a scathing response to a $4 million federal lawsuit the rap star filed in July when Taco Bell used his name to sell tacos.

In unusually nasty court filings, Taco Bell called Fitty a common street thug who's trying to look tough.

The rapper is a "self-described former drug dealer and hustler" whose "gangsta rap" is associated with violent criminals, Taco Bell wrote to Manhattan Federal Judge Naomi Reice Buchwald.

The 13-time Grammy nominee, whose real name is Curtis Jackson, was shot outside his grandmother's Queens home in 2000.

"Jackson has used his colorful past to cultivate a public image of belligerence and arrogance and has a well-publicized track record of making threats, starting feuds and filing lawsuits," Taco Bell lawyer Robert Lehrburger wrote in September.

"At the same time, Jackson holds himself out as a giver to charity and one who wants to give back to his community. This lawsuit is another of Jackson's attempts to burnish his gangsta rapper persona by distorting beyond all recognition a bona fide, good faith offer that Taco Bell made to Jackson."

In June, Taco Bell President Greg Creed wrote an open letter to Jackson, urging him to change his name to 79 Cent, 89 Cent or 99 Cent for one day. If Jackson showed up at a drive-thru window and rapped his order, Creed promised to send $10,000 to Jackson's favorite charity.

Jackson sued for trademark infringement, accusing Taco Bell of trying to generate publicity by using his name. Fans slammed him for "selling out," believing he was in on the stunt, the lawsuit adds.

Lehrburger denies Jackson's claims and says Taco Bell is covered by free speech protections in the First Amendment.

He said the offer for Jackson to change his name is still on the table.

But that's unlikely. When the lawsuit was filed, Jackson promised that when his legal team was through with Taco Bell, they'd change their logo to "We messed with the bull and got the horns."

"Jackson could have responded to Taco Bell's offer with a simple yes or no," Lehrburger wrote. "Had he accepted the offer, Jackson, Taco Bell and the public all would have gained."

Last year, Jackson sued an Internet ad company for using him image as a target in a game called "Shoot the Rapper."

Jackson's attorney Peter Raymond said the comments were unusual for a response to a lawsuit.

"It makes me wonder why they would decide to use his name in their ad campaign if they think he's such a bad character," Raymond said.

As Jennifer Hudson stayed sequestered in her grief Sunday night and other family members attended a memorial service for three murdered relatives at her childhood church, New York friends told us Hudson has not been able to go inside the home where the tragic killings took place.

Shari Sweat, a cousin, told the assembled mourners at Pleasant Gift Memorial Baptist Church that Hudson’s mother Darnell Donerson, or “Doll” as she was known, had voted just before she was fatally shot with her son Jason. Their bodies were found Oct. 24 at Donerson’s house, and that of Hudson’s 7-year-old nephew Julian King three days later in Jason Hudson’s vehicle.

“Doll refused to be left out of this historical moment in this nation, and before she left these shores she cast her vote,” Sweat said.

Julian’s young cousins sang “He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands,” and the child’s second-grade teacher read from a classmate’s essay: “Julian was smart. I’m sad he didn’t get to be President of the United States.”

Sean Howard, a Chicago city official who accompanied family members to identify Julian, told the heartbroken church group, “When Jennifer and her family walked in, Jennifer was a pillar in that room. You have a true leader in your family in Jennifer.”

Hudson and her sister Julia, the boy’s mother and estranged wife of the suspect, William Balfour, were expected at the private funeral scheduled for today.

Hudson’s friend and mentor Andre Leon Talley, who like Hudson brought himself from poverty to stardom, in his case in the fashion world, told us that he and his boss at Vogue have reached out to her as she mourns.

“We’ve talked constantly,” Talley told us. “I’ve sent her many e-mails; I’ve sent her my support, and so has Anna Wintour. And she just says thank you, thank you, thank you. She wants everyone, all her fans, to know how much their support has meant to her. And she’s going to be all right. Jennifer has faith in God. They’re just praying, every day, every minute, for the strength to get through this. And she will - she’s a very strong girl.”

Still, Hudson, who had the world in her hands as she rose from American Idol to winning an Oscar for “Dreamgirls,” cannot yet bear to go inside the scene of the crime, Talley said.

“I believe she went back just once, to the gate, but didn’t go inside,” the style arbiter told us. “Right now she’s at an undisclosed location.”

Talley will no doubt try to see her this week. He told us at Bette Midler’s New York Restoration Project benefit ball that he is headed to Chicago to work at a phone bank for Barack Obama in the election that was so important to Jennifer Hudson’s mother.

Def Jam Executive Vice President, Shakir Stewart was found dead yesterday (November 1), has learned.

While details are being confirmed, sources stated that Shakir died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, and his body was found earlier today, in his apartment.

"L.A. Reid and all of us at Island Def Jam Music Group are deeply saddened by the passing of our dear friend and colleague Shakir Stewart," Def Jam told sources in a statement. "Shakir was an amazing man, in every sense of the word. A truly incredible friend and father who was an inspiration to not only our artists and employees, but to his family and the many people who had the privilege of counting him as a friend. Our hearts and prayers go out to his family at this very difficult time."

Stewart replaced Jay-Z's position at Island Def Jam and was named Executive Vice President of Def Jam Recordings in June of 2008.

Stewart began is career at Def Jam in 2004, as VP of A&R for the legendary label.

As A&R, he signed artists like Young Jeezy, Rick Ross and others.

Prior to working at Def Jam, Stewart worked for Hitco, where he signed Beyonce to a publishing deal and signed Ciara during his tenure at LaFace Records.

Shortly after his promotion to EVP with Def Jam, Stewart told sources that he was looking forward to signing a new, fresh crop of talent to the storied record label.

“My main thing is to keep supporting the artists that have cultural relevance, a message, a real fan base and that can touch the hearts of men and women,” Stewart told sources of his vision. “My commitment is to the artists of quality music and talent.”

Most recently, Stewart over saw the release of Young Jeezy’s latest album The Recession, LL Cool J’s Exit 13 and Nas’ untitled album.

“That's an honor for me because these are artists [whose careers] I've watched from day one. Law enforcement sources tell TMZ Jennifer Hudson's mother was one of two victims shot and killed in Chicago earlier today.

A neighbor tells TMZ the other victim was Jennifer's brother Jason. A cousin who lived nearby discovered the bodies.

We're told the two bodies were found dead on the scene at 2:44 PM. When the fire department arrived and discovered the bodies, police were brought in and the home was declared a crime scene.

A call to Hudson's rep was not immediately returned.

UPDATE 6:40 PM ET: An all points bulletin has been issued for a boy, believed to be Hudson's 7-year-old nephew (right), who may have been taken from the scene. Police are looking for 1994 white Suburban with the license plate X584859.

UPDATE 7:35 PM ET: Police are looking for William Balfour (left), who they claim could be with the missing 7-year-old. According to records, Balfour listed Hudson's mother's address as a place of residence within the last year. According to the Illinois Department of Corrections website, Balfour is currently on parole after serving jail time for attempted murder.

UPDATE 8:35 PM ET: Lost in all this is Jennifer's sister Julia, mother of the missing 7-year-old. We're told she works as a bus driver in Chicago. Her employer told us she worked her shift today. She hasn't been seen since.

UPDATE 9:20 PM ET: A WBBM reporter is saying that neighbors have said a family member in the Hudson household apparently tried to steal a car a few weeks ago, an argument ensued, and he vowed revenge. After four weeks on the charts, Paper Trail has sold a total of 877,600 copies.

50 Cent talks about his make or break album and how he ran back to Eminem to help him this time:

"It's a catch-22," the rapper said over the weekend in Las Vegas, referring to the criticism he received for Curtis, an album that he calls "softer" than Get Rich or Die Tryin' and The Massacre. "They'll say, 'Oh, it's too aggressive.' ... Soon as you do something that's a little more lighthearted, and you can play the whole record and feel like you don't have to cover your kid's ears, I get penalized for it. So get ready to cover your kid's ears. Now I'm really interested in seeing how the public responds."

Fif is promising a decidedly harsher edge on Before I Self Destruct, and he's been working with Eminem, Dr. Dre and Scott Storch. Storch produced the album's first look, "Get Up," but the G-Unit Chairman of the Board says we'll hear another song before the album's December 9 due date — a definite thunder clap.

" 'Get Up,' is just the appetizer," he said on Saturday, in a separate interview at the BET Hip-Hop Awards. "I got so much more, so many different records to feel out and see what direction I wanna go in next. I've been writing this record for a year. I started Before I Self Destruct before I started Curtis. Conceptually, this one has been very well-groomed."

Unlike Curtis, which had cameos from Justin Timberlake, Mary J. Blige and Robin Thicke, it doesn't seem like 50 is too interested in having collaborators stop by the studio this time around. Eminem is the only name he shared. (The Queens native described the record "Norman Bates Motel" as "the return of Slim Shady.")

"So, far I've kinda kept to myself and wrote what I felt was exciting from my perspective," Fif said. "It's always fun working with Em for me. He's in a space where he has the luxury of just being able to sit down. The rest of us ... me, I do the actual footwork. Dre hasn't had an album out in seven years. Em — two years. Me — seven, eight months. They send me out to test the waters, and everyone else will jump in the tub. I stay a little more active. Em is by far the biggest rap artist, period. I'm the largest hip-hop touring artist. I travel more places than he travels to be in front of a live audience."

50 traveled to Detroit to stay with Em twice while recording. One time was over the span of a weekend, and Em encouraged his signee to carry out his idea of shooting a movie to accompany the album.

"He's like, 'Go, just do it. If you wanna go, just do it, and we'll figure everything out after the fact,' " 50 recalled. "There were a few technical questions, considering this is my fourth and final actual studio album. My fifth album requirement [to Shady/Aftermath] is a greatest-hits requirement."

The film "Before I Self Destruct" will be packaged with the album on December 9.

50 Cent has further blasted the mother of his child, claiming she has "kidnapped" his son Marquise in a new magazine interview.

The rapper has been granted brief visitation with his son in the latest legal battle with his ex-girlfriend Shaniqua Tompkins, over a recent blaze at his New York home.

The hip-hop star, real name Curtis Jackson, and his former lover have been feuding in court after the Long Island residence - where Tompkins and 11-year-old Marquise had been residing - since it was destroyed in May (08) in what police have called a "suspicious" fire.

Tompkins was recently granted a restraining order against her ex, preventing the star from being on the same premises as her.

With the bitter custody battle set to resume on 15 September (08), 50 Cent has opened up about the feud to Sister 2 Sister magazine.

Two of Hip Hop's biggest stars, Kanye West and Lil Wayne, are scheduled to appear next to a bunch of rock bands for next months Virgin Mobile Festival. Taking place during two days on August 9th in Baltimore, MD, the acts will perform on two huge stages and a dance tent. “We’ve programmed the Virgin Mobile Festival so fans can enjoy extended sets and get the full concert experience of these top-tier acts,” the producer Seth Hurwitz said, continuing “We also scheduled it so you can catch parts of each band, since these are all must-see artists.”

Besides Kanye and Weezy, other acts for the event will include fellow rapper Lupe Fiasco and rockers Nine Inch Nails, Foo Fighters, plus legends Bob Dylan and Iggy Pop and The Stooges.

The Atlanta native is back in the lab with plans to release his follow-up LP and a song on par with "Superman dat ohhhh!"

"I worked with Polow [Da Don] on this album," SB said of his sophomore album. "He did the first single. I remember last year, [when I was] touring, 'Crank That' would be on the radio every five minutes. I was like, 'Man!' This is exactly what this album is gonna do: straight takeover! I did production on this one. I accepted a lot of beats from underground cats on this album. I just shoot my e-mail out on the hip sites. I play off by ear, not off who's doing it. I like music."

Soulja said he wasn't going to reveal the title of the first single yet because of biters, but he did say that the song will not debut on radio. The unveiling of its video will be the first time we hear it. The album is called iSouljaBoy, and it's an ode to today's technology, like iTunes. What did you expect? Soulja Boy Tell'em is new, fresh, current and — God bless him — young.

R+B star USHER is proud to have welcomed his first child at the age of 29 - because he wants to be young and healthy while raising his kids.

The singer's wife Tameka Foster gave birth to the couple's first baby Usher Raymond V in November (07) and they hope to expand their family in the future.

And Usher is delighted to have become a father in his twenties.

He tells People.com, "That's something to be proud of. I'm so proud to be a father by the time I'm 30. I'd hate to be 80 years old and not be able to run with my kids. I need to still be able to do back flips when they're in high school!"

And Usher admits that his eight-month-old son is already copying his dance moves.

He adds, "(He is) already trying (to do flips). He's a pull-up master."

Cash Money Records’ CEO rapper Bryan “Birdman” Williams pleaded not guilty to marijuana possession charges during a preliminary hearing yesterday (July 29) in Kingsport, Tennessee.

Williams and 15 others were originally charged with possession of marijuana, after police stopped his RV last November on Interstate 81 for making an improper lane change, which forced a tractor trailer into the emergency lane.

A search of the vehicle allegedly uncovered a pound of marijuana in the RV’s trash can, as well as a number of guns.

Williams, his brother Ronald “Slim” Williams, an 18-year-old woman and 13 other people were charged with possession of more than a ½ of marijuana.

In subsequent interviews after his arrest, Williams, who was on the road promoting his album 5 Star G, admitted to possessing marijuana but denied possessing a pound.

Yesterday, three of the group member also charged with possession of marijuana failed to appear in court and bench warrants were promptly issued for their arrests.

Williams and the group are slated to go to trial in October.

Hip-Hop star Rick Ross has hit back at recent reports surrounding his previous employment with the Florida Department of Corrections.

During an interview on Friday (July 25), Ross addressed the latest developments as “rumors” and maintained that he is a victim of a massive smear campaign.

Speaking to Phoenix, Arizona Hip-Hop station Power 98.3 (KKFR-FM), he responded to the question of his past employment by simply saying “Don’t believe the hype.”

“In the game we in, it’s real competitive,” Ross told Power 98.3 FM. “Competitors have to do what they have to do to eat. We making the best music. Y’all seen the BET Awards, y’all saw the magazine. We the biggest in the game, we the best in the game. Just keeping it real. And anytime somebody can attack my character, like I said, you get nothing from the Boss. I don’t give haters the pleasure.“

In video footage of the interview, which took place during a fan meet-and-greet at the Virgin MegaStore at the Arizona Mills Mall, Ross is seen dancing and interacting with fans, apparently undaunted by the continuing appearance of “evidence” of his two-year stint as a Correctional Officer at the South Florida Reception Center in Miami-Dade County.

Ross said he views the discussions the documents have created among his fans, foes and colleagues alike as part of in the rap game.

“When you get to my level, you’re a great conversation piece,” Rick Ross calmly explained. “I’m big on the blogs, I’m big on the magazines, and I appreciate that as an artist. That’s why I’m in the game. I got in this game to introduce people and to make great music. And that’s what it’s about.

“Just keep the rumors coming,” added Ross, who’s sophomore album Trilla debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Top 200 album chart.

“We gon’ keep the records coming, we gon’ keep the music coming. Like I said, I’m one of the realest sources of this real street music in this game. Straight out of Miami, straight out of M-I-Yayo. One of my closest homies was on America’s Most Wanted.”

TheSmokingGun.com has obtained additional paperwork to further validate Rick Ross as a correctional officer in Miami years ago.

The Web site uncovered more documents through a Freedom of Information Act request with the Florida Department of Corrections. The rapper’s employment application, an awarded certificate, and his personal history record, among other items, are posted on theSmokingGun.com.

Last week, the rumors regarding Ross and his past surfaced. Pictures of the rapper in his correctional officer uniform popped up on the Web. Initially, Ross denied the claim, saying the images were altered by online hackers.

The fact-finding site now has traced names found on the rapper’s employment application, specifically his mother and sister, Tommie Ann Roberts and Tawanda Roberts. Their names appear on the liner notes of Ross’ recent album, Trilla, in the thank you section. The address Ross listed on his application is also the same address that his charitable foundation is currently listed at now.

Ross’ resignation letter, dated June 2nd, 1997, is also available to view.

Wrigley's is turning to contemporary artists Ne-Yo, Chris Brown and Julianne Hough to remix its signature gum jingles. Chris Brown will sing about Doublemint, Ne-Yo will update Big Red and Julianne Hough is paired with Juicy Fruit.

Wrigley's will host a concert in New York tomorrow (July 29) to unveil the new jingles. Radio station Hot 97 is expected to give away tickets for the show as part of the promotion. An advertising campaign from New York's Translation Advertising, part of the IPG network, will launch shortly thereafter.

Hints that Brown would be partnering with Wrigley's were dropped earlier this year in his video "Forever" from his re-release, "Exclusive (The Forever Edition)." In the beginning of the video he eats a piece of gum and in the chorus sings the line "double your pleasure, double your fun," the long time tag line for Doublemint.

Advertisements, shot by Randee St. Nicholas, feature Nelly wearing underwear and loungewear inside and outside a modern home overlooking Los Angeles.

Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Nelly is Sean John's first underwear model, but Sean "Diddy" Combs' clothing line has used Dwayne Wade, Nas, Snoop Dogg, Lil' Wayne, Penelope Cruz, Cassie and Lauren London as models in the past.

"To me, Nelly is the quintessential definition of the Sean John man," Diddy said in a statement. Hip-hop mogul JAY-Z hates hearing how his rap contemporaries "keep it hood", because he's convinced no one would voluntarily return to their poverty-stricken past in the streets.

"Contrary to tabloid reports, there is no engagement. This was a complete fabrication," states Combs's rep.

"I think real n---as won't think so," the Clipse's Malice said a couple of days ago in New York when asked if this episode will hurt Ross' credibility.

"That don't mean what he's talking about [in his rhymes] ain't true. The thing I wish is he came clean, if in fact that is him [in the photos]. 'Cause you ain't gotta make no excuses for whatever you did. You might have thought differently at one point in time. I don't think that should discredit that man."

"I'm not even going to go that far into it," said Mal's brother, Pusha T. "I don't know what it's gonna do to him, what it can or what it should do to him. I know the hip-hop community has given passes for much [worse]."

Fabolous suggested that his Def Jam labelmate keep making hits and not to let the banter get to him.

"I don't know if it will really hurt him," Fab said on the set of Ryan Leslie's "Addicted" video. "As an artist, I think Rick Ross makes great music. He's always shown me love and respect whenever I met him. Everybody has a past. I don't know if [being a prison guard] is his past or not. That's not my place to say. The never-ending DMX saga continues. Today DMX plead not guilty to theft and identity theft charges he faced from an incident where the authorities say he gave a hospital a phony name. Prosecutors say that DMX went to the Emergency Room complaining of chest pains, he said his name was "Troy Jones" to avoid a bill reportedly estimated at $7,500. DMX will next be back in court on August 12th.

This is just the latest in the DMX saga. In May he was arrested for speeding, then later for animal cruelty. Then he was busted in Florida twice, once on driving charges and the other in an attempt to buy cocaine from an undercover cop. Rounding it up, he returned home to Arizona and was arrested for two outstanding warrants.

Former 90's rap stars Lil' Kim and Foxy Brown are headed back to court.

Publishing giant Simon & Schuster sued the hip-hop divas in Manhattan Thursday charging they never delivered on books they were paid to write - and kept the advance money.

Grammy-winner Lil' Kim, whose 2005 perjury conviction led to a stint in the Philadelphia Detention Center, was contracted to scribe an untitled novel in November 2003 and given a $40,000 advance, according to the suit.

After failing to put pen to paper, the publisher voided the rapper's contract - her real name is Kimberly Jones - and demanded its money back in July 2004, the suit states.

Hot-tempered Foxy Brown, whose real name is Inga Marchand, failed to make good on a 2005 contract to write her autobiography, tentatively titled "Broken Silence," after her best-selling 2001 album, according to court documents.

The Brooklyn-born singer, who spent time in jail in 2007 after assaulting a manicurist, received an advance of $75,000 for the book. She was supposed to return the cash by July 2006, according to the suit.

The book house wants its money back, with interest.

R+B star CHRIS BROWN is set to enter the reality TV industry by launching his own dance competition series.

The Kiss Kiss hitmaker frequently shows off his fancy footwork in his music videos and live performances, and now he is to give wannabe dancers a chance to strut their stuff on his forthcoming show.

The currently untitled project, which will focus on hip-hop and street dance culture, will see contestants go up against one another in a variety of dance-offs, with Brown choosing the winner of each round.

Speaking of the programme, Brown says, "Dancing is more than just a way of moving, it's a different expression of music. That's what I want to focus on with this show."

Reality TV guru Mark Burnett and his business partner J.D. Roth will produce the programme, which is due to be pitched to TV networks next week (begs28Jul08), reports Variety.com

Fitty says his trademark name is being infringed on in a "guerrilla" ad campaign for Taco Bell's value menu.

He's asking for more than $1 million in damages.

Jackson says he never gave the company permission to use his name in an ad that asks him to change his name to 79 Cent, 89 Cent or 99 Cent.

"Taco Bell traded on the name of the world's biggest hip-hop star to draw attention to its new, hip-hop-based advertising campaign, and thereby generated massive publicity for its business," the suit says.

The letter from Taco Bell President Greg Creed promised to donate $10,000 to Fitty's favorite charity if he joined in the stunt.

Overseas the “Shoe Goo” Dunk Highs have popped up at a few locations, but it looks like we are going to have to wait a while for this release. This premium SB is said to release in September Stateside and in Europe.

The sole of the dunk is a semi-translucent material that resembles the sticky clear cement that comes out the metal tube ready to fix any destroyed shoe. Shoe Goo has long been a tool of repair for the separation of a shoe’s sole from the upper courtesy of grip tape. We will keep you posted with any further updates we receive about this sneaker. Detroit, Michigan stars EMINEM and KID ROCK have been challenged to a freestyle rap battle, which could pocket their chosen charities $1 million (GBP500,000).

The offer comes from the producers of new movie Rap Therapy, which chronicles one Detroit social worker's efforts to use hip hop to help steer troubled teens away from gangbanging, drugs and violence.

The rap challenge will officially be launched in Detroit on Tuesday (22Jul08).

A luxury car previously owned by late rapper TUPAC SHAKUR has been put up for sale online.

The California Love star's 1995 green convertible Jaguar - which featured in one of Shakur's last music videos, To Live + Die in L.A., is being auctioned off on website eBay.com, with bids starting at $40,000 (GBP20,000).

The seller, known only as gloluv0504, claims the vehicle has 16,055 miles (25,838 kilometres) on the clock, and the winning bidder will receive the car's original papers with Shakur's name and signature on them.

The Jaguar XLS is currently located in Atlanta, Georgia - the city where Shakur's mother, Afeni, lives.

Shakur was murdered in a drive-by shooting in Las Vegas in September 1996.

K-Swift, born Khia Edgerton, was just 28-years-old, at the time of her death, although she started DJ’ing at the age of 11, due to the influence of other pioneering DJ’s like Cocoa Channel and Jazzy Joyce.

Last night, ATL rapper Lil Scrappy had been stabbed off North Hairston Road in Dekalb County Georgia and was in stable condition in police custody. More information is now known about the rapper's arrest. He is currently being held in Dekalb County Jail on $1500 bond. His charges include felony firearm/knife possession, felony marijuana possession, misdemeanor battery, and misdemeanor obstruction of officers. He was booked around 12:51am this morning. Details are still very sketchy about how he was stabbed.

After completing a $24 million dollar acquisition of Death Row Records, Global Music Group was hit with a $25 million dollar lawsuit from venture
capitalist Ron Goldberg, who claimed to have been illegally cut out of the deal by his partners.

In an recent statement, the Global Music group disclosed their stance on the lawsuit and the details of the acquisition.

“We represent Global Music Group, Inc, a New York Corporation which was the successful bidder at the auction of the assets of the bankruptcy estates of Death Row Records, Inc., and Marion Knight, Jr,” explained Roger Muse, a partner at the Beverly Hills business and entertainment law firm of Muse Methany. “My client and its principals put up all the money necessary to make the bid and were successfully present at the Bankruptcy auction to make that successful bid.”

Muse also states that Ron Goldberg was never a member of Global Music Group, or recruited investors for the company as he alleges in his lawsuit.

“Mr. Goldberg is not a principal of Global Music Group Inc., a New York corporation, nor does he have any ownership in that company or in its assets, including the Death Row assets subject to the company’s court-approved bid,” Muse explicates. “Mr. Goldberg has apparently filed a Delaware corporation under the same name of my client; but of course anyone can file a corporation in any state under any name as long as the name is not then in use in that state by another corporation. Mr. Goldberg’s claim that it is his Delaware Global Music Group was the ‘true’ bidder of the bankruptcy assets simply has no merit.”

COMMON GEARING UP FOR HIS NINTH STUDIO ALBUM

Already staring in American Gangster, Wanted and Smokin Aces, Common is continuing his acting career with a role in the new installment in the Terminator series called Salvation. Although the film isn't hitting the world till May 22nd, 2009, buzz is already started when a teaser trailer hit the internet yesterday. Currently in New Mexico filming for the movie, Common is also finishing up his ninth album called Invincible Summer. "I feel more free now that I'm doing more movies and stuff, to just put out music that I love and I believe in and get it out there," stated Common about his music.

The new album, due out in September, will be produced by Mr. DJ and hit making duo, The Neptunes. In related news, Common recently performed "Gladiator" live.

As we have reported in the past, grammy award winning producer Scott Storch has had money problems for some time now. After RollingStone reported that he made $70 million in 2004, his money seems to have gone away due to excess spending and poor money management. The Associated Press is reporting that Storch owes money for property taxes on his $10.5 million dollar home and has arrest warrants for several failed appearances in child-support cases.

Storch used to command $100,000 per beat, now he hasn't had a hit song crack the top 10 since 2005 and seems to be hiding out. Storch's ex, Vanessa Bellido says “I think he’s embarrassed,” continuing, “I don’t think he’s going to be right until he has his money.” Storches lawyer blames his downfall on his management, “There was some mismanagement and some other errors,” continuing “He got jammed. I don’t think he’s going down, I just think he’s having difficulty. It’s a cash flow problem.”

Before he was "Bulletproof," now 50 Cent is leaving "Blood on the Sand." The rapper and business mogul will have the 2nd edition of his video game series with Vivendi Games hitting stores in November.

If you didn't like "Bulletproof" don't worry, "We've emphasized the gameplay quality [more] than anything this time around. We can't wait to show the game around," said Vivendi Games producer Aaron Blean. Aaron went on to explain the game as "I would say it's inspired by 'Three Kings' meets 'Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels,' " continuing "It's definitely a crime story."

Lil Wayne and his new co-band member T-Pain, AKon and Keyshia Cole will be heading to Jamaica for their Reggae Sumfest. Akon will even share the stage with Keyshia Cole and reggae's Richie Spice and Terry Linen on Friday (July 18th) for their International Night.

Lil Wayne will perform with T-Pain (probably "Got Money") on the last day of the event (July 19th). Top dance acts are expected to keep the show moving with performances by Beenie Man, Elephant Man, Bounty Killer, Wayne Marshall, and many more. The entire event goes from today (July 17) to Saturday, July 19.

But according to Dr. Dre’s latest protégé, Bishop Lamont, the end of the drought could be right around the corner. “Em is excited,” Lamont said, according to an Entertainment Weekly blog report. “He’s been quiet too long, and he’s got a lot to get off his chest.”

No release date has been set yet for the album, but Em’s label confirmed that he’s in the studio at work on the album. The 35-year-old MC has been on hiatus for the past two-plus years, in part to deal with his emotions about the 2006 death of best friend and fellow D12 member Proof in a bar shooting in Detroit, but Lamont said Slim Shady is emerging from his grief. “He went through what he had to go through, and now he’s been able to take all the pain and stress and put it out in his music.”

A guy who says that he got cut out of the Death Row Records deal by his partners is suin' mad -- and he's going after them for more than they paid for Suge's sloppies.

Ron Goldberg says in his lawsuit that he got Susan Berg and Reggie Bush (not that one) to buy Death Row, but that he's now on the outside looking in. He wants $25 million from Berg, Bush, and the former president of his company, Global Music Group.

The label was bought at an auction last month for $24 mil.

Rapper 50 CENT can keep using his lawyer BRETT KIMMEL after beating a bid from ex-girlfriend SHANIQUA TOMPKINS to have him thrown off the case.

Tompkins - who the star is battling over a home he owns, and she lived in until it was burned down earlier this year (08) - claimed Kimmel had a conflict of interest, because she attempted to hire him to represent her during her child support battle with 50 Cent three years ago.

But Kimmel and the rapper - who has an eleven year old son, Marquis, with Tompkins - successfully argued the two cases are unrelated and that Kimmel never had an attorney-client relationship with her.

New York judge Carol Edmead has thrown out the bid.

50 Cent - real name Curtis Jackson - is attempting to overturn a court decision to freeze insurance money on the New York house.

Atlanta rapper Shawty Lo is shooting down internet rumors of his involvement in an altercation at a club in his hometown over the weekend. Rumors appeared online on Wednesday (July 17) that Shawty Lo, born Carlos Walker, was assaulted at Club Crucial, a venue in Bankhead co-owned by rival T.I..

“A couple of dudes from my Bowen Homes hood got into it with some other dudes from Bowen Homes,” Shawty Lo explained to sources. “It really wasn’t nothing, just some Bowen Homes sh*t. It wasn’t an altercation with me at all. I didn’t get touched, period. And this had nothing to do with TI.”
